Where to find jobs in Malaysia beyond the big job boards

The well-known job sites are only part of the market. Here are the other places Malaysian employers hire from — and how to use each one.
Why one job board isn't enough
Most people start and stop with one or two big job sites. That's where every other candidate is too, so popular postings collect hundreds of applications within days. Many roles — especially in smaller companies, startups and specialist fields — are never posted there at all.
Spreading your search across a few different channels finds more roles and, often, roles with less competition.
The main job boards — used well
JobStreet, LinkedIn Jobs, Indeed and Hiredly carry a large share of Malaysian postings. Use them, but use them deliberately: set alerts for two or three exact job titles, filter by posting date so you apply in the first few days, and save searches rather than scrolling the same feed every morning.
MYFutureJobs
MYFutureJobs is the government's national employment portal, run with PERKESO. It lists vacancies from employers of all sizes, including many that don't advertise elsewhere, and also links to training and placement programmes. It's worth a regular check, particularly for roles outside the big cities.
Company career pages
Many employers post roles on their own careers page first, or only there. Make a list of 20 to 30 companies you would genuinely like to work for and check their career pages every week or two. Large companies often let you set a job alert directly on their site.
Communities and referrals
Industry groups, alumni networks, meetups and professional communities on LinkedIn, Telegram or Discord often share openings before they are posted publicly. A referral from someone inside the company is usually the fastest way to get a resume read by a person.
Asking for a referral is easier than it sounds: be specific about the role, share your resume, and make it simple for the other person to forward.
Recruitment agencies
Specialist recruiters handle many mid-level and senior roles, especially in tech, finance and engineering. A good recruiter can tell you about roles that are never advertised. Legitimate agencies are paid by the employer — you should never be asked to pay to be placed.
Keep track of it all
Searching across several channels only works if you remember where you applied and when. Keep one list with the company, role, date, source and next step, and tailor your resume for each application rather than sending the same file everywhere.
